For the manufacturing of carbon based products, various LAEIS presses are used over the past years, e.g. ALPHA type presses for the production of bipolar plates for low temperature (PEM) fuel cells or HPF type presses for the production of large sized carbon blocks made from carbon black and graphite as intermediate products for carbon brushes etc.
A speciality is the use of the LAEIS presses type MEGA for the production of anodes for aluminium smelters, made from coke and pitch at elevated temperatures about 120 °C using vacuum pressing technology. Due to the dimensions and weight of the anodes (up to 1200 kg/piece and more) these presses provide for an extremly large useful pressing area and filling depth.
